Activity Guide Contest for Red Cross Clubs

During Red Cross Month, we are celebrating and recognizing Everyday Heroes who help their communities. We are excited to invite Red Cross Clubs across the country to enter our Activity Guide Contest in celebration of Red Cross Month. This contest is calling for Red Cross Clubs to make creative and forward thinking guides for Red Cross mission-related projects – the guides will be used by other Red Cross Clubs and young people across the country to plan and implement the projects. The contest will be open to Red Cross Clubs starting March 1st. The deadline to submit your activity guide idea is Monday, March 31, 2013. Access the contest entry form on www.RedCrossYouth.org starting March 1st!

Nominate an Everyday Hero

The National Youth Council is now accepting nominations for youth to be featured as an Everyday Hero! The program recognizes outstanding young volunteers who show that you are never too young to make a difference in their local or global community with the American Red Cross. Nominators are asked to submit a 1-2 minute video highlighting the young person in their local community who they consider a "Red Cross Hero." Selected Heroes will be featured on the Red Cross Youth Website, as well as in YouthWire, plus they will receive some Red Cross swag in the mail! The nominee's achievements must demonstrate one or more of the following characteristics:

• Service to one's local, national or global community

• Effort in creating innovative solutions to community needs

• Leadership of an exceptional service or advocacy activity

Deadline for video nominations is Wednesday, February 28th, 2013 5 p.m. EST. For more information about how to nominate an Everyday Hero, visit www.redcrossyouth.org.
